On April 19th, 2009, right before leaving Quebec City, I dropped my camera bag on the road on Place d'Youville. Since my cameras were each in padded camera bags in addition to being in a backpack and the fall was from a short height — I was sitting in the passenger seat of a car at the time — I thought everything would be fine.
How wrong I was! The shock had forced the lens cap into the filter, making it difficult to remove:
After removing the pieces of broken glass, carefully bending the filter with pliers was only a matter of minutes:
All I had left to do was to replace the original filter with a new one from B+W which, hopefully, will absorb shocks just as well.
