Stop signs are normally octogonal, especially where I live (with a white border, a red background, and “stop” lettering or a local variant). Yet I noticed hexagonal stop signs depicted in a bunch of places:
My first thought was that those must have been designed by people who have never seen an actual stop sign in their lives, but:
Some countries use a style of stop sign, also permitted by international standards, which is a circle containing a triangle pointing down and “stop”;
Bhutan appears to use an actual hexagonal stop sign.
Perhaps the explanation for all the surprising stop signs I saw is just that: graphic designers from landlocked Bhutan?
