1-2-3-4 Cake

Index of recipes

This cake is sometimes presented as a typical American recipe. It is nearly identical to the recipe for the "typically British" pound cake, and the "typically French" quatre-quarts. The name comes from the amounts of ingredients needed for its preparation, which follow the 1-2-3-4 pattern (more or less).

Ingredients

Preparation

  1. Heat oven at 350°F;
  2. cream butter and sugar together until fluffy;
  3. beat eggs in;
  4. sift in the dry ingredients, alternating with milk;
  5. move to pan;
  6. bake at 350°F until a knife inserted comes out clean (this should take about 50 minutes).
